Tip #2: Create an inspiration board.
Pull together pictures of everything that creates the feeling you want for your wedding. Include clothing, accessories, object with sentimental importance, your colors, texture (feathers, sand, twigs, silk), your theme (bird cage, sea shells, organic food) and anything that will convey the overall look of the event. This will be a good exercise to help you decide on a thematic mood and find ways to make different objects have a cohesive look. More importantly, it is easier to show than to tell. Take your inspiration board with you on appointments with vendors to give them an idea of what you’re looking for. Make notes in the margin to clarify what you like about each image and add a list of adjectives to describe what you want.
How do you want to feel on your wedding day? Sexy? Royal? Elegant?
How do you want your guests to feel? Fun? Red Carpet? Relaxed?
What do you want people to know about you when they come to or hear about your wedding? Good steward of the earth? Wine connoisseur?
Have fun coming up with ideas. But not too much fun. Remember- you only have 15 minutes!
